Trumbo’s ‘Holiday’?: Some experts on the blacklisting era are saying that writer Dalton Trumbo should have received an Academy Award for “Roman Holiday,” and the Writers Guild of America is looking into the matter. Ian McLellan Hunter and John Dighton received Oscar nominations for the screenplay, and Hunter won an Oscar for the story. Professors and journalists researching the era say Hunter fronted for his close friend Trumbo. In a similar case, Albert Maltz was recently given story and screenplay credit for “Broken Arrow,” originally credited to Michael Blankfort, who had fronted for Maltz.
