Brubeck and Mummenschanz on Smothers Theatre Schedule

A number of dance and music events are among the 82 performances in Smothers Theatre at Pepperdine University in Malibu during the 1991-92 season.

The Dave Brubeck Quartet opens the season Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. The Chinese Magic Revue, including acrobatics, comedy, dance and kung-fu, appears in Malibu, Sept. 22 at both 2 and 7:30 p.m.

Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal returns Oct. 14, followed by the Vienna Choir Boys, Oct. 24, and Jeffrey Siegel’s first “Keyboard Conversations” appearance of the season, Oct. 28. All three events are at 8 p.m.

The Hubbard Street Dance Co. will perform Feb. 4 and 5 at 8 p.m. Pilobolus returns March 5, the Swingle Singers March 6, both at 8 p.m.. “The Best of Mummenschanz” comes to Malibu April 1 at 7 p.m., the Turtle Island String Quartet April 25 at 8 p.m.

“Rhapsody in Taps” dances May 2 at 8 p.m. The Los Angeles Mozart Orchestra, conducted by Lucinda Carver, appears May 10 at 2:30 p.m. And Momix, “a company of dancer-illusionists,” performs May 16 at 8 p.m.
