The Unfolding BCCI Scandal
President Carter’s acceptance of an $8-million gift from BCCI, the world’s sleaziest bank, was a display of bad judgment equal to his aborted attempt to rescue hostages from Iran, his Playboy confession that he “lusted after women” and the double-digit inflation and recession he permitted to occur just before his reelection effort in 1980.
Carter should return the money to the victimized BCCI depositors.
