NATION IN BRIEF : OHIO : Rapper May Face Charges in Rape Case

Cleveland police said that they were seeking an indictment against the star of the rap music group Run-DMC, who is under investigation for rape. An indictment would allow authorities to seek the extradition of Joseph Simmons, 25, of New York, who is known in the group as Run. Authorities said evidence from the weeklong investigation was presented to a Cuyahoga County grand jury after a police investigation into an allegation made by a 22-year-old Cleveland woman against Simmons. The woman told police that Simmons raped her Aug. 9 in his hotel room after the group’s performance.
