RAMS VETS: Forty years ago the Rams surprised the sports world by defeating the powerful Cleveland Browns to win the National Football League championship. . . . Friday most of the surviving members commemorated their 1951 victory at a luncheon in Los Angeles (C1), where Paul (Tank) Younger, who played running back and linebacker, recalled the night before the game: Quarterback “Bob Waterfield called the offensive players, and (linebacker) Don Paul called the defensive players to go over the plays. I spent the whole darn night on the phone.”
