Covering the Dead

Norman Lebrecht’s “Backing From the Dead,” on Phil Lesh’s support of classical composers (Aug. 4), is a big change from previous Times pieces concerning the Grateful Dead: It was accurate, factual and positive.

Those previous articles, written by your pop gurus, degenerated into sleazy, sensationalistic tabloid-type journalism. I suggest that all future pieces concerning the Dead be delegated to your music department.

This would ensure interested readers accurate, factual, relevant information and allow your pop pundits free time to pursue whatever it is they do best.
