Nation IN BRIEF : OREGON : Surgeons Replace Mismatched Heart

The Oregon City man who received a mismatched heart underwent a second transplant operation at Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital in Portland, and doctors described his condition as critical but stable. The patient has type O blood but on Wednesday had received the heart of a donor with type A blood. A hospital executive said the mix-up stemmed from miscommunication and the patient will not be charged for either operation.
