Booth Three Shots Back in PGA Junior

Kellee Booth of Coto de Caza shot three-over-par 75 Tuesday and is three shots behind the leader after the first round of the PGA Junior Championship in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Joellyn Erdmann of Little Chute, Wis., has the lead with a 72 on the PGA National course.

In the boys’ division, Paul Hinkle of Costa Mesa shot 76 and trails leaders Scott Johnson of Kennewick, Wash., and Chip Spiron of Goldsboro, N.C., by five shots.

Jay Colliatie, general manager and head golf professional at PGA West in La Quinta, has been hired to run golf operations at the Pelican Hill Golf Club, which is scheduled to open in November in the Irvine Company’s Newport Coast development.

Colliatie, who has been a golf pro at PGA West since 1985, will eventually direct operations at Pelican Hill’s two public courses. The 6,705-yard Ocean Course, which is near completion, will include four holes on the ocean side of Pacific Coast Highway. Construction on the 6,950-yard Canyon Course has not begun.
