‘Friendly Fire’ War Casualties
In response to “ ‘Friendly Fire’ Toll in Gulf Is Raised to 35 Americans,” front page, Aug. 14:
The U.S. military has found that 35 of the 148 servicemen killed in action during the Persian Gulf War were victims of “friendly fire.” The Pentagon said 72 servicemen were wounded in similar accidental fire from their own side.
Was the worst enemy we faced in the Persian Gulf War ourselves?
