Park in the wrong place on street-sweeping day and you’ll end up with a lighter wallet in most Orange County cities. Almost all municipalities try to deter parking your car where the street sweeper wants to be by imposing a fine. Tustin, at $39, is most serious about the offense; in Costa Mesa the lift is just $12. There are six cities that do not impose such a penalty. Here’s the comparison, from most expensive to least:

City Amount Tustin $39 Dana Point $27 Orange $27 Mission Viejo $27 San Juan Capistrano $27 Santa Ana $27 San Clemente $25 Garden Grove $23 Westminster $21 Anaheim $20 Brea $20 Buena Park $20 Fullerton $20 Los Alamitos $19 Newport Beach $19 Stanton $19 Laguna Beach $16 La Palma $16 Cypress $14 Fountain Valley $14 Huntington Beach $14 Seal Beach $14 Costa Mesa $12 Irvine do not cite Laguna Niguel do not cite La Habra do not cite Placentia do not cite Villa Park do not cite Yorba Linda do not cite
