New Well Capacity

Share

As the county’s population grows, so does its need for water. To that end, the Orange County Water District is always creating new wells to augment the county’s water supply. In 1991, six new wells will be tapped. These wells will add 16,500 acre-feet, or approximately 5.4 billion gallons of water to the county’s supply. An acre-foot of water is enough to satisfy the water needs of a family of five for one year. The following lists the new wells and their projected water capacity. Next week, Water Watch will look at the new wells to be sunk in 1992 and their projected capacity. Capacity for New Wells--In acre-feet: Orange 13: 1,000 Serrano Irrigation District: 1,000 Yorba Linda: 1,500 Orange: 4,000 Southern California Water Company: 4,000 Anaheim: 5,000
