Three-Day Advance Purchase Fares Replaced: Beginning Sept. 4, the airlines will replace the popular three-day advance purchase fares with seven-day advance purchase fares. According to travel agents, the change amounts to a fare increase for most business travelers, since few of them can book trips a week ahead. Observers said the airlines made the change to bring in much-needed revenue as the industry enters the traditionally slow fall travel season.
