Only when the male of our species is able to accept that the act of rape should be as unthinkable as cutting off his own genitals will the female of our species no longer be forced to endure either the excruciating criminal violation of her mind and body, or the predominantly male newspaper editors’ decision to gloss over and make light of her horror.
Maybe if men equate the permanent loss of their own sexuality with the violation of women’s sexuality, they will begin to understand what rape really is all about.
