Grand Ole Opry May Go Public: Lawyers in Nashville, Tenn., filed papers seeking government permission to combine the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville Network and other holdings of billionaire Edward Gaylord into a publicly traded company called Gaylord Entertainment Co. Gaylord Entertainment would be an umbrella company also owning Opryland USA Inc., Country Music Television, four independent television stations and cable-TV systems in Southern California. The company would have an initial offering of 9 million shares of common stock that would be traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
