BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : Dunston Inquires About L.A. Job

Shawon Dunston, the potential free-agent shortstop who says he wants to stay with the Cubs, acknowledged that he has asked Lenny Harris what it is like to play in Los Angeles.

With Jose Offerman proving yet another disappointing product of the Dodgers’ player development system, there could be pressure this winter to sign Dunston, who is batting .463 in his last 21 games while improving his average to .264.

Offerman is batting .186 and has committed seven errors since replacing injured Alfredo Griffin nearly a month ago.

Dunston, who had similar problems when he was a Cub rookie in 1985, said Offerman simply needs time.
