Former Atty. Gen. Dick Thornburgh officially opened his campaign for the U.S. Senate with a speech in Pittsburgh asking voters to review his 25 years of public service. Thornburgh, U.S. attorney general since 1988, resigned on Aug. 15 to seek the seat vacated when Sen. John Heinz was killed in an air crash. The seat is now held by his opponent, Democrat Harris Wofford, an appointee.
