A 30-year-old man who had been profiled Friday night on the television show “America’s Most Wanted,” was arrested Saturday morning in El Cajon by a police officer who had watched the show, El Cajon police said.
Walter Lee Anderson, 30, was arrested at 10:30 a.m. by Officer Dave Turner and U.S. Marshals, El Cajon police said. Anderson, who was taken by marshals to the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown San Diego, was wanted on a parole violation from New York and on a wide range of drug and weapons charges, officers said.
After watching the TV show Friday night, Turner thought he remembered talking with Anderson a few days before, though the man Turner had talked to had a Florida driver’s license and a different name, police said.
A few computer checks and phone calls later, Turner found Anderson’s car and traced him to a friend’s house in El Cajon, where he was arrested Saturday morning, police said.
