Preventing Pool Mishaps

Share

My husband and I are parents of six children, including identical twin boys. We do not know the Guglers, but wish to help counter concerns noted in your article.

It has been our experience (corroborated by other parents of identical twins) that twin behavior can differ significantly from that of single children. Their constant companionship from birth, coupled with shared physical and personality traits, creates a unique kind of dynamics. We first observed in their common toddler behavior 1) that they seemed to lack the ordinary sense of danger possessed by single children, 2) that they were far more likely to wander and explore, and 3) that one and one equaled much more than two and even produced a new kind of sum.

I express our sympathy to the Guglers.
