Share

The California Angels will help kick off “Fiestas Patrias,” the Mexican version of Independence Day activities on Sept. 12, when the team meets the Chicago White Sox.

As part of the festivities, the national anthem will be sung by Patricia Cruz, 19, of Garden Grove; music provided by Mariachi Estrella will be performed before the game and between innings.

It will be the first ballgame involving the Angels and the 300-member Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Orange County, which is helping co-sponsor the event. Pregame festivities will begin at 7 p.m. with Alfredo Amezcua, a Santa Ana attorney and chamber president, throwing out the first ball.
