Express Lane: Like it or not, the ghost of a long-lost American game show lives on at the Clothestime apparel chain.

Clothestime plans to sponsor a shopping spree in each of its stores modeled on the 1960s television show “Supermarket Sweep.”

The Clothestime “Clotheshorse” contest will allow a winner at each of its 104 Los Angeles and Orange County stores to tear through the aisles dumping as much merchandise as they can cram into a shopping cart in 30 seconds. Unfortunately, no helpers are allowed.

The contest is open to anyone over 18 who comes into a Clothestime store and fills out an entry form. Drawings will be held the day of the contest and, since each “Clotheshorse” has to be present to win, the chain is expecting 300 or more potential shoppers to show up at each store on the day of the spree, Sept. 14.

The chain expects each winning shopper to walk away with between $300 and $800 worth of merchandise.
