Baldwin Park Student Heads to Literacy Event
Deborah Cruz, a student at Baldwin Park Adult School, will represent California at the National Literacy Congress Friday through Monday in Washington.
The conference will focus on leadership training for new adult readers.
Cruz, who was illiterate when she enrolled in the adult school three years ago, is studying for her high school diploma equivalency test and hopes to become a teacher.
