Frank Klopas scored with eight minutes remaining to give the United States a 1-1 tie with Turkey at Istanbul in the final match of the Americans’ European tour.

The U.S. soccer team (8-4-3) lost to the Soviet Olympic Olympic team and to FC Tirol of Austria, and beat Romania on its tour.

“It was a rough trip in a way, but we learned a lot,” forward Hugo Perez said. “We came together the last two games after a a couple of bad results, but that’s the way it is, and you have to learn from your mistakes.”
