MTV’s Best: R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion” was the big winner in the MTV Video Music Awards announced Thursday in ceremonies broadcast from the Universal Amphitheatre. “Religion” was named video of the year and breakthrough video among its six awards. Other MTV winners include Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” for male video, and Janet Jackson’s “Love Will Never Do Without You” for female video. The rap award went to LL Cool J for “Mama Said Knock You Out.” Aerosmith’s “The Other Side” took metal/hard rock honors; Jesus Jones’ “Right Here Right Now” won for new artist video.
