PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Broncos Are Tonic for Gaston Green
After spending three seasons on the Rams’ bench, running back Gaston Green has become a starter for the Denver Broncos.
Traded to the Broncos for tackle Gerald Perry, Green rushed for a career-high 116 yards in 24 carries and had a long run of 43 yards in a 45-14 season-opening victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
“Here I’m getting an opportunity to play, and I’m trying to make the most of it,” said Green, who got his chance as a starter when Bobby Humphrey held out. “I was there three years and I never got a chance to play, and I thought if I ever did get a chance to play I might not be able to do the things I felt I could. I was a little rusty, but it’s starting to come back to me.”
