TUSTIN : Spilled Paint Causes Tie-Up on Freeway
Several cans of paint splashed onto two lanes of the Santa Ana Freeway during a six-vehicle collision Monday, triggering a 15-mile backup.
The California Highway Patrol issued a two-hour SigAlert after the 6:05 a.m. accident north of the Red Hill Avenue exit, CHP Officer Angel Johnson said.
Johnson said the vehicles were heading south on the freeway when a Chevrolet Blazer rear-ended a Nissan sedan, causing a chain-reaction collision that involved three pickup trucks and another car. Two men were injured.
One of the pickups was carrying cans of white paint, which splashed onto the freeway, forcing the closure of two of the lanes, Johnson said.
Passengers Felipe Mesa, 41, and Juan Trujillo, 19, both of Chino, were taken to Irvine Medical Center. The extent of their injuries was not known.
