Intel Seeks Restraining Order Against Rival: The Santa Clara, Calif., company asked a federal judge in Sherman, Tex., to order upstart competitor Cyrix Corp. to stop selling its speedy math computer chips because they use some of Intel’s patented technology. In just two years, Richardson, Tex.-based Cyrix has carved out more than 10% of the $300-million-a-year math co-processor market that Intel had a virtual monopoly on. A co-processor is used with a microprocessor, the “brain” of a personal computer, to boost a computer’s ability to calculate complex equations.
