COLLEGE FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Getting All Knotted Up in Knoxville
- Share via
UCLA and Tennessee seem fit to be tied if history in Knoxville, Tenn., is any indication.
The Bruins are 1-0-2 in their last three games there. The teams tied, 17-17, in 1974; UCLA won, 13-0, in 1978 and the teams tied again, 26-26, in 1985.
In 1985, UCLA, behind quarterback David Norrie, scored 16 points in the final five minutes for the tie. The Bruins’ late surge was capped by Norrie’s 25-yard touchdown pass to Flipper Anderson and Gaston Green’s run for a two-point conversion with 37 seconds remaining. Norrie is now the radio analyst for UCLA’s games.
