6 Arrested, $2.8 Million Worth of Cocaine Seized

Glendale narcotics officers arrested six suspects in a countywide drug ring and found 77 pounds of cocaine hidden beneath the false floorboard of a vehicle parked in the garage at a Downey house, authorities said Friday.

Detective Tom Lorenz said the officers, acting on a tip, watched apparent drug transactions in restaurants and parking lots in Beverly Hills, Rosemead, Covina and Granada Hills before arresting the six people on Thursday in Downey and Granada Hills. Altogether, the officers seized 79.2 pounds of uncut cocaine with an estimated street value of $2.8 million, plus $120,000 in cash and five vehicles, Lorenz said.

Booked in Glendale City Jail on suspicion of conspiracy and possession of cocaine for sale were Enrique Flores, 21, of Downey; Luis Gomez, 36, of Granada Hills; Cliotilde Gomez, 34, of Granada Hills; Juan Garcia, 25, of Downey; Maria Ayala, 19, of Downey, and a teen-age boy whose name was withheld.
