A ‘Wonderful Life’

Years ago, a dear friend of mine was asked by her psychotherapist: “Where did you get your unique gift of fair play?”
“Frank Capra’s films” was her reply. My friend had been brought up in an orphanage; if she could find three empty milk bottles she could go to a movie. She was industrious and averaged three movies a week.
“He shaped my life,” she said.
I had the great pleasure of relating this to Mr. Capra, who had directed my husband, Sam Jaffe, in the classic “Lost Horizon.”
