MAE SOT, Thailand — Myanmar’s Karen guerrillas attacked and retook a border outpost in revenge after finding six fellow Karen beheaded by Myanmar troops, a Thai army officer said Friday.
About 100 Karen rebels drove government troops from Thay Baw Bo camp near the Thai border last week, killing at least two of them, the officer said, requesting anonymity.
The Karen, seeking greater autonomy from the Myanmar government in Yangon, have been locked in a brutal jungle war with authorities for more than four decades.
