Hot Line Answers Utility-Tax Queries

ANAHEIM — The city has established a hot line to answer questions about the recently imposed utility users tax.
By calling (714) 254-4450, residents and business customers can get information about the tax and learn how to apply for an exemption. Spanish-speaking operators will be available.
The 2% tax will be added to telephone, natural gas, electric and water bills beginning Oct. 1 and will raise $4 million for the city. High-volume users of these utilities will have their tax payment capped at $50,000 a year for each utility at each location.
Households earning less than $20,000 a year will be eligible for an exemption.
