Oprah’s New Booking: Oprah Winfrey, who ranks third on Forbes magazine’s new list of the highest-paid performers, has donated $100,000 to buy books for a new library named after the late Chicago mayor, Harold Washington. “Books were my path to personal freedom,” the talk show host said in a statement. “I learned to read at age 3 and soon discovered there was a whole world to conquer that went beyond our farm in Mississippi.” The library is scheduled to open Oct. 7 in Chicago.
