Suit Filed Against ATV Manufacturers: Citing a climbing accident rate, three consumer groups and pediatricians asked a federal court in Washington to prohibit the sale of four-wheel all-terrain vehicles for children. The U.S. Public Interest Research Group, Consumer Federation of America, Public Citizen and the American Academy of Pediatrics charge that the current agreement between the federal Consumer Product Safety Commission and ATV manufacturers that restricts the sale of four-wheel ATVs to people over 16 years old needs legal backing to be effective.
