SIMI VALLEY : Mall-Office Project Subject of Hearing

Share

The Simi Valley City Council will hold a public hearing tonight on a developer’s proposal to build a 1.5-million-square-foot shopping mall and office complex.

The hearing is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.

The council will review the request by Indianapolis-based Melvin Simon & Associates to build an enclosed mall on 126 acres north of the Simi Valley Freeway, between 1st Street and Erringer Road. The project would include five department stores and 500,000 square feet of additional commercial and office space.

The council will consider recommendations made by the Planning Commission earlier this month to approve the project’s specific plan and environmental impact report.

The developer plans to break ground on the mall by mid-1993 if the project is approved by the council.
