On the Block: Important works from the collection of Los Angeles interior designer and collector William A. McCarty-Cooper--the adopted son and heir of noted British art historian and collector Douglas Cooper--will go on sale in a series of auctions at Christie’s beginning in New York on Jan. 25. The collection, valued at more than $30 million, includes works by Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso, tribal arts, European furniture and decorative arts. McCarty-Cooper died of AIDS complications in May at age 53.
