Robert P. Haugen; Pharmacy Owner

Robert P. Haugen, pharmacist and owner of Haugen’s Prescription Pharmacy in Glendale, has died at his Montrose home. He was 49.

Haugen died Monday of cancer, said his father, Murlan Haugen of Glendale.

Born in Burbank, Robert Haugen grew up in Glendale and graduated in 1960 from Hoover High School, where he was on the water polo and swim teams. Haugen earned his doctor of pharmacy degree from USC in 1972 and began working as a pharmacist for Haugen’s Prescription Pharmacy, which his father opened in 1944. Following his father’s retirement in 1984, Haugen purchased the business and continued to work as a pharmacist there until his death.

In addition to his father, Haugen is survived by his mother, Hermione Haugen of Glendale, and sister, Nan Haugen of San Diego.

A funeral service, with burial to follow, is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Church of the Hills at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, in the Hollywood Hills. Forest Lawn Mortuary, Hollywood Hills, is handling the arrangements. Donations can be made in Haugen’s name to the Glendale Memorial Comprehensive Cancer Center, 1520 S. Central Ave., Glendale 91204.
