INS Raid, Arrests Violate Human Life

Share

“INS Agents Arrest 200 in Orange County Raids” (Sept. 19) reported the raid and arrest of 200 (alleged) undocumented persons in Orange the previous day. INS officers disguised themselves as exterminators to rid the neighborhood of infectious pests.

If we are compliant with this process, then not only has human life been violated, but likewise, been relegated to the status of cockroaches--an undesirable, contaminated insect.

Our national and provincial narcissism conveniently blinds us to recognizing real people with feelings and thoughts and dreams and fears. The consequence is that whole families are literally being dismembered. Our cultural myopia has discarded human beings as “illegal.”

I commend the Los Angeles Times for allowing this violation to be exposed and challenged.
