Police Identify Girl, 17, Shot to Death Saturday
A 17-year-old Pacoima girl who was fatally shot during the weekend has been identified as Elizabeth Lopez, but Los Angeles police still have no leads in her death, Detective Frank Bishop said Monday.
Elizabeth was killed about 11:30 p.m. Saturday as she walked toward a parked car because she believed that a friend was inside, Bishop said. A gunman in the car shot her once in the head. Elizabeth was pronounced dead at the scene, at the corner of Herrick and Pinney streets, about a block away from her home.
Bishop said two friends who were with the girl when she was killed described the car as a black Camaro but did not get a license plate number. Her companions also told police that they did not recognize the people inside the Camaro, Bishop said.
