* Jack Sonntag; Oversaw Multitude of Television Series

Jack Sonntag, 77, best known as a producer and assistant director at Four Star Productions where from 1954 to 1964 he was in charge of such TV series as “Four Star Playhouse,” “The Rifleman,” “Wanted Dead or Alive,” “The Big Valley” and others. After Four Star founder Dick Powell died, Sonntag went to 20th Century Fox television as a production executive overseeing “Batman,” “Peyton Place,” “Julia,” “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir” and “MASH.” In 1954 the Directors Guild of America named him assistant director of the year. In Santa Barbara on Sunday of amyloidosis, a metabolic disorder.
