Newhart in Vegas: Comedian Bob Newhart, a Las Vegas regular for two decades before turing his attention to television in recent years, returned to the Las Vegas Hilton stage Tuesday night after a nine-year absence. He found audience reaction still basically the same: “You learn pretty quick in Las Vegas. If a routine doesn’t work, it isn’t there the next night. On TV, if it fails, you can always put a laugh track on it.” But how people dress is another matter. “I started here when nearly everyone wore tuxedos. Now they come to the shows in tank tops.”
