Entering its second year as a major cultural hub in North County, the Poway Center for the Performing Arts will present a variety of music and theater this season. The 800-seat center will play host to national and international theater, comedy troupes and musicians.

On Oct. 26, Ramsey Lewis will perform in concert. The keyboardist creates a blending of jazz, pop and classical music.

On Nov. 9, the Players’ Theatre presents London Follies, the latest production of this East End company, who for more than 50 years have been presenting Victorian-style vaudeville.

On Feb. 8, 1992, the Dell’ Arte Players Co. presents “Malpractice: Or Love’s The Best Medicine.” Lifted from the classic comedies of Moliere, “Malpractice” is a satire that jabs a farcical needle into the medical profession.

On April 11, 1992, the Black Cat Rhythm Band will perform. This 10-piece orchestra and its vocalists perform the works of Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Cole Porter and others of that genre.

On May 8, 1992, Avner The Eccentric, the thinking man’s clown, will mime, clown, juggle, tumble and do more. Appearing with Avner will be The Chenille Sisters, a young vocal trio whose music is reminiscent of the Boswell Sisters, the Roches, the Forester Sisters and Pearl Bailey.

On June 6, 1992, singer Jack Jones performs a concert of contemporary ballads, music of the Big Band era and modern film and television scores.
