Ventura to Hold Final Stock Car Race

The final stock car race of the season at Ventura Raceway will take place tonight at 8 after raceway officials and drivers agreed to end the season nearly two months early.
The stock car series was scheduled to run through Nov. 22. But because of a drop in attendance after the Ventura County Fair races, a decision was reached to end the season early, save money and prepare for the 1992 season opener in April.
“The economy is so bad right now and it has really hurt our stock car shows more than any other races we have run,” Ventura Raceway general manager Cliff Morgan said. “The blue-collar working person is the one that attends and participates in the stock cars and they are the ones the economy is affecting the most.”
The U.S. Auto Club’s Midget and three-quarter Midget events, along with the raceway’s motocross and speedway motorcycle races, will run as scheduled.
