A parolee sought in connection with a double murder during a gas station robbery in Newark, N.J., was arrested in La Mesa, an FBI agent said.

Gregory Allen Tucker, 25, was arrested at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at his apartment in the 4900 block of Parks Avenue.

Tucker lived at the apartment with his girlfriend, her 2-year-old boy and another woman who Tucker said was his godmother, said FBI special agent Kevin Foley of the San Diego field office.

Tucker fled Newark shortly after the May 30 armed robbery, authorities said, accompanied by his girlfriend and her son.

He was on parole from a state prison in Trenton, N.J., where he served time for robbery, authorities said.

While traveling to San Diego, Tucker’s car overheated in the desert and he was burned removing the car’s radiator cap. He was treated for the burn at a hospital, which enabled authorities to trace him.

Tucker is being held in the Metropolitan Correctional Center until he can be extradited to New Jersey.
