Jenkins’ Scores Lead Dana Hills Past Millikan

Running back Marcus Jenkins rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns to lead Dana Hills to a 21-7 nonleague victory over Long Beach Millikan Friday at Dana Hills.

Jenkins, who had 28 carries, scored on runs of four and seven yards to give Dana Hills (1-0-2) a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Jenkins, a senior, rolled up 83 yards in 16 carries in the first half.

Dana Hills extended its lead to 21-0 just before halftime. Quarterback Scott Covington drove the Dolphins 51 yards in 1:20, hitting Jeremy Buck for a 24-yard touchdown pass with :20 to go.

The Dolphin defense limited Millikan to 92 total yards and six first downs in the first half. The Rams drove to the Dana Hills 1-yard line in the first quarter, but David Erikson and Ho Pak stopped Millikan’s Scott Allen on a fourth-down keeper.

Millikan scored its only touchdown in the fourth quarter. The Rams drove 78 yards in 12 plays, with Sheva Branch diving in from the one. The march was helped by two pass interference penalties on Dana Hills.
