El Monte : More Transit Funds Sought
The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to seek $234,000 in state funds to help complete parking facilities at the Commuter Rail Station near Valley Mall.
The city will request the money from the California Department of Transportation’s Transit Capital Improvement Program, which also helped to pay for the station’s new platform.
Most of the remaining cost will be paid with Proposition A funds from the Los Angeles City Transportation Commission and El Monte, which have each put more than $1 million into the project.
