GOOD, BAD, DEAD: The county’s year-end report on its new methanol motor fleet will include mixed reviews. County motor pool officials say its 11 cars running on methanol help save on energy and air pollution. But mileage is poor and only two places in the county sell the stuff. Worse news: Supervisor Gaddi H. Vasquez drove one to a Palm Springs conference last week and it broke down near Banning. . . . “Terrific, just terrific,” he said as it ground to a halt.
