Not So Upbeat: The Los Angeles Philharmonic has suspended its subscriber magazine, Upbeat Live, due to lack of funds. In a letter to subscribers, Philharmonic executive vice president Ernest Fleischmann said publication will resume as soon as money becomes available. The Philharmonic currently carries a deficit of $1.15 million. The Music Center announced earlier this week that the Philharmonic and the center’s other resident groups face an overall 16% reduction in monetary support from the Music Center in 1992.
