Former Granada Hills Chamber of Commerce President David Russell Miller has been indicted in Sanford, Fla., on first-degree murder charges in the Sept. 15 shooting of one of his two wives.

Miller, 41, was being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 14. If convicted, he could receive life in prison or the death penalty.

Miller was indicted by a Seminole County grand jury Wednesday in the death of Jayne Miller, 33. The woman, who married David Miller in February, was shot seven times after an argument with him outside a Sanford storage business, police said. The argument began when she confronted her husband after learning that he was married to another woman, police said.

The victim and her husband had moved to Sanford from Granada Hills in April after he closed his lobbying and business consulting firm. The business was closed as David Miller faced mounting financial problems, according to court records and acquaintances.

The shooting served to unveil David Miller’s double life. His other wife, Dorothy Miller of Belle Vernon, Pa., said that for years she believed that her husband’s long absences were due to his job. She said he told her that he was a CIA agent. Friends of Jayne Miller said she had said her husband was a tax lawyer.

Authorities have said neither description was true and police in Sanford are attempting to learn his true background. An attorney representing the parents of Jayne Miller said Thursday that his clients turned over a computer and several information storage disks that belonged to David Miller to police to aid in their investigation.
