AIDS in Hollywood: The Brad Davis Fallout

Share

I was greatly disheartened by David Fox’s article “How Much Does Hollywood Really Care About AIDS?” (Sept. 22). I am shocked at the amount of discrimination that goes on in Hollywood in the midst of a horrible disease that could end up killing much of the world’s population.

Hollywood is where discrimination and misinformation should end. Millions of people are influenced by what they see on TV and in the movies.

Only through knowledge and understanding will AIDS be combatted. Raising money through benefits is great, but it is also important to let others know that people with AIDS or the human immunodeficiency virus can function for years after their diagnoses.

I do not have children yet, but when I do, I would rather they know the truth about AIDS than see the glitz of a charity event, so they can recognize the importance of protecting themselves.
