Former N.Y. Mayor Beame Has Apparent Heart Attack

NEW YORK —
Former Mayor Abraham D. Beame, who ran the city during its last fiscal crisis, was hospitalized Saturday, apparently after a heart attack, a spokeswoman at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan said. Beame, 85, who served as mayor of New York from 1974 to 1977, was listed in critical but stable condition.
